RFC Container Company installed and is powered by an over six acre solar field.  The solar energy generated powers our entire manufacturing facility, currently we are the ONLY manufacturing company to be 100% Solar Powered.  The solar arrays generate more energy than our facility can utilize in one year and the excess energy is transferred back into the grid.  Taking into consideration only one solar array this month we have generated 30,841(kWh) this year 1,400,279(kWh).  In addition we have saved 990 tons of Co2, 113,421 gallons of gas and approximately 25,205 trees planted. We will keep striving to improve our process and find ways to further eliminate our carbon footprint.  If we each do our part the Earth will thank us for it.

Renewable energy accounted for 14.3% of the total electricity produced in the first 6 months of 2011. The states of Iowa, North Dakota, and California each generate more than 10 percent of their electricity supply from renewable energy.  That contributed to the reaching of a major milestone in the first quarter of 2011, when renewable energy contributed 11.7 percent of total U.S. energy production (2.245 quadrillion BTUs of energy), surpassing energy production from nuclear power (2.125 quadrillion BTUs). Hydroelectricity is the largest producer of renewable power in the United States.

The solar industry however is growing by leaps and bounds from Q2 2011 to Q3 2012 it has increased by 125% according to Solar Energy USA making it one of the fastest growing sectors in the US economy.  The 3rd quarter 2012 was the third largest on record for the US solar industry and raised the total installed capacity through the first three quarters of the year.  The commercial market has installed 258 MW in Q3 2012.
